COACH TRAINING
Coach Approach Skill Training (CAST) prepares participants for credentialing by the International Coach Federation
COURSE CURRICULUM
Learn the basic and advanced skills of individual, group, and team coaching, plus the integration of the coach approach to leadership. Participants come away with the ability to effectively do “peer coaching” and to lead with a coach approach in their own context.
The training is delivered on-line or in-person with a heavy emphasis on the integration and practice of each coaching skill.
The learning experience is lively, fast paced, challenging and fun! All classes are currently taught in English.
Note: ICF credentialing also requires Mentor coaching, practice hours, and an application process.
What’s Included:
60 hours of coach-specific training approved by the International Coach Federation (ICF) and applicable toward ACC credential.
Curriculum is delivered in three core segments (see details below)
CAST 1 — INTRODUCTION TO COACHING
Learn the five basic skills of coaching and come away with a written plan for how to use those skills. This experience is highly participatory with heavy emphasis on the integration and practice of each basic skill. It provides 20 hours of coach specific training approved by the International Coach Federation. This course is appropriate for anyone who would like to learn the basic skills of coaching. (There are no pre-requisites)

- Orientation to Coaching
- Definitions and Benefits of Coaching
- The ICF Core Competencies
- Coaching Applications
- Coaching Mindset
- Coaching in Relation to Other Helping Disciplines
- Research on Coaching and Intercultural Competence
- Formal and Informal Coaching
These five foundational coaching skills:
- Coaching Presence
- Deep Listening
- Asking Powerful Questions
- Expanding Possibilities
- Action Planning with Review and Commitment
CAST 2 — ADVANCED SKILLS OF COACHING
Deepen the use of the basic skills of coaching while introducing a number of advanced skills being utilized by leaders who are committed to excellence in coaching. Like the Basic Course, this experience is highly participatory utilizing a variety of learning styles. Each person will discover their own coaching style. Participants receive 20 hours of coach specific training approved by the International Coach Federation, and extensive additional instructional material. (Pre-requisite: Basic Coaching Skills)

- Huge requests and Challenges
- Metaphor and Image
- Saboteur and Future Self
CAST 3 – COACHING GROUPS AND TEAMS
Many leaders are discovering the benefits of group coaching, especially related to cost effectiveness and capacity. Coaching a group and coaching a team are different, however, both require the ability to combine group facilitation with the art of coaching. This course is highly interactive. 20 hours of coach specific training approved by the International Coach Federation is awarded, and extensive additional instructional material is provided. (Pre-requisite: Basic Coaching Skills)

COURSE OPTIONS
ON-LINE COURSE
Our ON-LINE COURSE is conducted over a period of six weeks in three-hour segments, twice weekly. It is offered throughout the year.
All on-line education is led by qualified instructors who are live with students each time the class meets, accompanied by student reading, writing, and practice requirements.
ON-SITE COURSE
Our ON-SITE COURSE can be provided at a location arranged by a sponsoring host, with CAST instructors present.
Classes are held in-person over 4 days, accompanied by student reading, writing and practice requirements. Please contact us if you are interested in hosting on-site CAST training.

CUSTOM DESIGN

ACADEMIC CREDIT
Huntington University (HU) is partnered with CAST to offer online coursework and supervision including coach specific training and mentor coaching. Interested students have the opportunity to complete Coach Approach Skill Training while earning academic credit, and prepare for accreditation by the ICF. Learn More
